The Ohio University, in its project “Edu-Communication for Social Change and Participatory Video to empower youth in Ecuador”, will use our methodology for its cooperation initiative in the South American country. Within the framework of the Healthy Living Initiative, a strategy of the Institute of Tropical Diseases of the university institution, the objective is to reduce the transmission of Chagas disease in southern Ecuador.
This will give us the opportunity to apply and test the methodology that elParlante has used rigorously since 2009. It will be a challenge to work with young people in a rural area and in the area of Public Health, both new contexts for the Speaker. The team consists of Jessica Gonzalez, project director and student of The Ohio University Master of Communication for Development; Alfredo Cohen (Colombia), PhD candidate in Social Communication at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona; Franklyn Charles (Dominica), video producer and Master of Communication for Development student at Ohio University; Sherica Hawthorne (Jamaica), psychologist and international development student, also from the American University.
