What do we do

In elParlante we work with public administrations, private organizations and third sector entities, in academic environments and media. We carry out projects from the diagnosis of a specific need to the design of the strategy, its implementation and evaluation. Likewise, we carry out specific actions within promotional campaigns and more global proposals.

AWARENESS

From a Netflix series to a TikTok influencer, through a newscast, a music video, a football match or pornographic material… Everything we consume educates us in one way or another.
From the critical reading of social networks and all kinds of audiovisual material, together with groups of young people, adults and / or older people we review the imaginaries, stereotypes and prejudices that different media configure about reality.
Our methodologies include collective debates, content analysis and playful dynamics that allow us to always reflect from an intersectional and decolonial perspective, dealing with issues such as interculturality, classism, racism, ageism, gender violence, sexual and affective diversity, among many others.
The workshops can last between 1 and 4 hours and can be done both in
schools
and outside the classroom.

Audiovisual co-creation

In both formal and non-formal education, we generate spaces for collective audiovisual creation to develop projects that promote culture, diversity, employment and inclusion, among others.
Our methodology incorporates the use of video, photography, radio or theater as tools to facilitate participatory processes. The workshops are designed from an intersectional perspective, taking into account diversity of origin, sex and gender, as well as the ways in which power is exercised within the group and in society. We have worked with young people, children and the elderly, as well as women victims of violence, peasants, people with Down syndrome, among many others.
The result is an audiovisual product that is shared with the community and with digital media. When these processes of co-creation are sustained over time —as in the case of City of Hope— they allow the empowerment of participants and a greater capacity to express their emotions, to self-organize and link with the territory.

Community Cultural Management

Understanding that any cultural activity or project involves communication and education processes, we propose more participatory ways of managing culture, understanding audiences as active and critical citizens of what they consume.
In community cultural management we use art, music, popular cultures, heritage and creativity as essential elements of actions. We propose working methods based on processes of collective protagonism, encouraging democratization in the generation, circulation, consumption and horizontal access to culture. Thus, through various initiatives, we make the territories visible, fostering dialogues to build feelings of belonging, self-esteem and self-sufficiency in the community.
The La GRAN Pantalla Film Festival, first of its kind, designed with and for the elderly since 2019, the Barcelona Screen cycle, which we manage for the Institute of Culture of the Barcelona City Council, with more than 120 screenings a year and the initiative Communicating action Developed in two neighbourhoods with young and old people, there are three examples. We are convinced that culture communicates, educates and transforms.

Training and consultancies

Our training and consultancies are aimed at professionals in the educational, social, cultural and artistic sector. Also technicians and technicians of public administrations that work in the design and development of community or participatory projects.
From a TV show or communication campaign to a community health intervention. From conceptualization to budget, our extensive experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of action programs with different audiences, allows us to accompany all kinds of sociocultural intervention projects from start to finish.
We can address different territorial areas, from initiatives at national, regional or municipal level that seek to have greater scope and coverage, to more specific actions that can be developed in a specific neighborhood or a classroom.
As well as every year we carry out the Training in Educomunciation: art, culture and community action, we have also designed specific training and advice for different areas of local administrations: youth, the elderly, interculturality, social services, culture and health, always putting the intersectional perspective, communication and education, at the center of the proposals.
