The Mesa para Diversidad en el Audiovisual (MDA), promoted by the Consejo del Audiovisual de Cataluña (CAC), has recognized the work of elParlante in the VI Awards for Diversity in Audiovisual. This fills us with pride, as well as gratitude for the institutions that have made possible the
Desmuntatópics
project, such as the City Council of Hospitalet de Llobregat. The award ceremony took place on May 16 in Barcelona, during a conference in the auditorium of the Blanquerna School of Communication of the Ramon Llull University (URL). The president of the CAC, Roger Loppacher, has stated that diversity is reasonably represented in programming, although the data indicate that there is a lot of margin for improvement, since often certain social segments are visible and others are minimized. “For example, the report (by the CAC) highlights the low presence of immigrants, as well as the fact that they appear with significantly different roles to those developed by non-immigrants,” he said. The Desmuntatòpics project is an edu-communication project, carried out with the Council of Boys and Girls of the City Council of L’Hospitalet. From January to summer, two delegates from each school discuss the stereotypes present in the media, to then expose their own version of reality. El resultado: a series of videos that help to complement the view of youth and cultural diversity.
