As in previous editions, La Cruïlla Comuna
, the project we have been carrying out since 2009 in different schools in Catalonia, this year will return to the classrooms of three neighborhoods of Barcelona: Sarrià, Horta and Sant Andreu.
The Common Crossroads They are common encounters and crossings. It is a space for media education carried out in secondary school – usually during the subject of education for citizenship – in which through debate, review of audiovisual formats and positive interaction, it is intended that young people build their own view of cultural diversity, avoiding the simplistic discourse of the mass media that transmit and perpetuate rumors, prejudices and stereotypes of people from different backgrounds.
During four sessions, young people are informed, expressed and debated on immigration, refuge and the structural causes of material poverty in the countries of the South, as well as the co-responsibility of the countries of the North, while experiencing a process of raising awareness about the importance of exercising a critical and always active citizenship.
The methodological proposal of La Cruïlla Comuna, is based on the use of information and communication technologies in the classroom as alternative tools, useful to deconstruct discourses and place at the center the autonomous capacity of people to become critically aware of themselves and the problems that surround them, from a dialogical process that contributes to the construction of solutions for social problems.
