#oldlivesmatter
OLD LIVES MATTER, We don’t mind calling elderly people old. Those people with whom we have been working for years to combat edadism from projects such as the La GRAN Pantalla Film Festival , or the participatory videos of La Gran Gent Gran. We don’t care because many of them don’t care either, because they recognize the beauty of canes and wrinkles, because seeing shouldn’t be a problem, when it’s a privilege!
What matters to us, however, is that care homes are confined without listening to the voices of their residents, that the media signals them as victims without creative ability. What does matter to us is that youth is still valued as a universal value, that pensions are frozen, that they have little political representation, that their children or the system decide about their health. What we do care about is that they are tainted as boring or inept in the face of technology. What does matter to us is that the majority of older people are excluded from active participation in society. What does matter to us is that there are 90,000 elderly people living alone in Barcelona and that all public spaces designed for them remain closed.
That’s why, because #lasvidasviejasimportan, we invite you to take part in the second season of #ParlaGRAN .
#ParlaGRAN is a digital communication space where the main voice is held by older people. A space for dialogue and co-creation that for 30 minutes, allows us to accompany each other and talk about topics that affect and interest us.
