“Santako’s secret ingredient” is a collaborative audiovisual creation project starring young people from Santa Coloma de Gramenet and developed within the framework of the European project STAND.
STAND is an educational initiative that focuses on audiovisual creation as a tool for learning, participation and expression. Through teamwork, participants develop creative, digital and collaborative skills while creating their own content and sharing experiences with young people from other European countries.
During the project, the participants worked together to create an original story, getting involved in different phases of the creative process: from the conception of the idea and the writing of the script to part of the production and filming. Starting from the environment that they observed and building with this as a base. This process has culminated in a short film that puts at the center a message that we consider especially relevant: coexistence between diverse cultures enriches us, broadens our perspectives and contributes to building more open and cohesive communities.
The short film follows Paco, a lifelong man from Santa Coloma, who goes, as he does every Saturday, to Manolo, his trusted bar. He walks the same streets as always, focused on the coffee that awaits him, without observing or paying attention to what surrounds him: a diverse Santa Coloma. Already at the bar, the news is talking about the regularization of migrants… He denies it and wishes that everything that is outside disappears. When he goes out into the street, on his way home, he realizes that things around him are missing, they have disappeared. He returns to the bar, exhausted, and orders a paella. But this one also begins to disappear! Paco goes into shock and faints. As if in a dream, the waiter explains to him that the ingredients of the paella are also of diverse origin and, for the first time, Paco looks around him.
Beyond the audiovisual result, “Santako’s Secret Ingredient” has been an experience of shared learning, creativity and teamwork. The young participants have had the opportunity to explore audiovisual language, express their ideas and build their own story about the city and the diversity that characterizes it.
For us, the result is much more than a short film. It is also a collective process that highlights the youth participation, creativity and richness of the cultural diversity present in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Furthermore, the project would not have been possible without the fabric built by the people of the city itself, the Xarxa de Valors, the support of the businesses, the main actor (Pol Santamaria), as well as the people who have collaborated in building the essence of this audiovisual piece.
Long live diversity and long live Santa Coloma!
